Richard Miller, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and contemporary spiritual teacher of nondualism. He is the founding president of the Integrative Restoration Institute, co-founder and co-president of the Institute for Spirituality and Psychology, and co-founder of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Most recently, Richard is a consultant on research projects, studying the healing impact of the Integrative Restoration (iRest) Yoga Nidra Protocol. He has developed this protocol for such diverse populations as US soldiers experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder, the homeless, college students and those with chronic pain, among others. In addition to his research and writing projects, Richard leads meditation retreats and trainings throughout North America with a focus on enlightened daily living.
Evidence-Based Research Supporting iRest (Integrative Restoration) as a tool for healing post-traumatic stress in war veterans is being studied at Walter Reed Army Hospital, among other sites around the US. These and other studies are assessing the efficacy of iRest for the treatment of various issues including PTSD, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, pain control, insomnia, and non-medically responsive illnesses. Richard Miller developed the iRest protocol, which is an adaptation of the ancient practice of Yoga Nidra. iRest is described in Richard's book, Yoga Nidra: The Meditative Heart of Yoga.
